West Island College teens take on important adult issues

By Rhonda Massad

On Feb 5 West Island College (WIC ) teens from grades 8 and 9 competed in their annual Science Fair. The competition was fierce. There was a common theme in many of the projects. Serious grown up issues that addressed things like oil spills and crumbling infrastructure.

Ethan Warhaft-Graziano and Daniel Gosselin took on the task of testing bridges to find the best way to keep them standing, while David Ballas found that sawdust was the most efficient way to clean up an oil spill in salted water.

The Dollard des Ormeaux school will be celebrating its 40th anniversary this year with many events marking the special occasion such as an art exhibit and a production of Les Misérables. The school offers under one roof a French school (no certificate of eligibility required) and an English school (French immersion).
