Last week, On Rock Community Services was denied the chance to buy a large number of frozen turkeys at a discount, due to a chain store's policy.

The store, after the story went public, changed its tune and had 140 frozen birds delivered to the Kirkland location.

While that will go a long way for the 200-plus Christmas baskets that On Rock are preparing for the community-at-large, the highest number of requests ever, the non-profit agency that provides food baskets for needy families all through the year is still short about half the number needed for the holiday-themed meal and gift baskets.

"If you know anyone who is willing to help out, that would be great, as we still need 100 turkeys for our Christmas basket program," said AJOI coordinator Kim Reid.

To make a donation, contact On Rock Community Services online at onrock.org or by calling [514] 695-1905.
